This is to help you do your best during your habitat research.  I will not necessarily mark every single worksheet however I do want to see that they have been completed.  You will be marked more on your overall understanding of the topic rather than on each individual activity.

Introduction Activity

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate an understanding of what a habitat is.  Be prepared to hand in your worksheet.

Activity #1 Exploring Different Habitats

You will be assessed on the quality of information you present regarding different kinds of habitats.  Be prepared to hand in your worksheet for evaluation.

Activity #2 Build your own Habitat

You will be assessed on your ability to construct a habitat that is a safe and successful environment for an animal of your choice to live in.

If your habitat is deemed appropriate and safe you may be given a fish to see if your habitat can actually sustain a real fish.  This would be discussed with your teacher.

Activity #3 Human Impacts

You should demonstrate that you understand some the dangers that habitats face.  The focus of this activity is mostly on human impacts but make sure that you also address some of the natural hazards that habitats are threatened with.

You should be able to conduct the oil & feather experiment and make thoughtful observations about what you see happen.  Be prepared to hand in your worksheet.

Activity #4 What can we do?

You should be able to demonstrate how you can make a difference in saving habitats on a local level.  Your flyer will be assessed on how well you addressed the assigned questions.

Activity #5 Reflective Journal

Your reflective journal is a place for you to reflect on your learning.  It is important that you discuss some of the questions that have been asked however reflective journals in my class are not meant to be marked.  It is more important for me to see that you are understanding what you are learning and to help you if you have questions.
