Five boats constituted the Pt. Victoria venue, boats belonging to Loui, Twiggy, John, Warwick and mine made up the assault.  Accommodation was at the Island View Holiday Apartments the units were comfortable and clean with a million dollar view overlooking the bay and Point Pierce.  Friday night the weather was encouraging, James, Denis (a visitor friend of mine) and I arrived about 5.30ish and phoned Nick the caretaker for the keys to the unit.  Turns out Nick is a deckkie for the local professional fisherman at Pt. Vic. No amount of prompting  got us any  sure fire fishing spots.  Warwick and Kym arrived around 8 and the others at various intervals into the early hours of the morning.

The water looked OK at the ramp on Saturday morning and after an uneventful launch most boats headed out to the Songvar.  Water at the Songvar was rough but fishable, Twiggy turned it on for us with the whiting and bagged out with a few red mullet to boot, Darryl recons he caught a few as well.

John and crew’s tally was 23 and I’m not sure how many Loui and crew caught.  Warwick and Kym caught zip and on my boat Denis caught 2 red mullet and 1 whiting, James caught a really nice puffer fish on his brand new $200.00 plus rod and real, I caught 1 weedy whiting.

Around lunch time saw the NDSFC boats back at the ramp along with most of the other boats, reason the wind picked up to 20 knots plus.  That was effectively the end of the venue as Sunday the weather blew a gale, it was freezing and raining to boot.  I think it can be safely said that every one had a good time, the pub food was good, most people caught some fish and no one had any major dramas.  Correction Warwick had a blowout on his trailer on the way home, no damage and made it home safely

Pt. Victoria Was

Loosing a set of car keys and finding them in his pocket - who? Steve.

Fish species caught - Magpie Perch, Red Mullet, Puffer, Weedy Whiting, Tommies and no Doggies reported.

James agreeing to have a tetanus shot at the Maitland Hospital after spiking his foot on a sheet of rio mesh at work on Friday, but not until he had been fishing.  He thanks all the people who offered their encouragement by describing the size of the injection, suggesting amputation was an easier option, etc.

Boat at the ramp had an interesting  fuel tank system, 2 beer kegs, they also served as seat mounts. Gets you thinking doesn't it.

Estimated 2 to 2 1/2 meters of rough water between Goose Island and the Songvar.
