"Lined or unlined canvas, sir?"

I enjoy writing.
I write philosophy, commentary, and poetry.
Oh, and music.

I write philosophy. I keep a journal now for just that purpose. It's linked in the Journals chapter later on (Seven).

My commentary on philosophy is also found on that journal. But most of it is in my note books here at home, or where ever I decide to lose them, when I do. I didn't know this when I started, but a great deal of what Confucius did, and what he had his students do, was write commentary on the great Chinese philosophy/religious classics of the time and the ancients. Now, I carry on the tradition.

Poetry has always been one of my greatest achievements in the writing tasks. Well, I lied. My old stuff is horrible. But i feel my current generation have been quite impressive, if I say so myself. I have a LiveJournal dedicated to my writings now, but for the collection of this batch the link is below.

My most recent medium has been audio. Music. I just got the Mac music program Soundtrack. I've rigged my computer up w/ a video input firewire unit, w/ a dvd player plugged into it. the DVD player has a mic, and so, with a one second delay, i can record vocal tracks aswell. I have no server space to put these files, but if you instant message me, I could gladly send you them.

My music has always been... Odd?
My bands in the past have all been metal. After Dead Amanda (industrial project w/ a friend). I felt that sampling and processing would be a good direction to take music. Since I can't write music, and I can't play instruments, I can use digital music to my advantage. Record me making noises for a while, cut it up, and keep what sounds good. Loop those, process them if needed, and making tracks.

Currently I seem to have a Jazzy tribal feely to it. With world cultures colliding in each track, awkwad instrument combinations with technical drumming (usually avoiding repetition), the music has a busy feel to it, yet still an overwhelming sense of what I feel as "Ain Soph Ai" (limitless light). I don't know. I enjoy making it, and I enjoy listening to it. Since I make it for myself, I'm not too concerned about whether it's "good" or "quality."

Soon I hope to be recording my poetry, and placing it over simple rhythems and flowing ambience.

I've named the project, after great consideration, based on a line from a Smile song that I've always loved dearly.... "With you, I learned to / Make myself into something more / Break my heart and make me stronger / Teach myself to, move on ... Such a Feeble Dream, to think I'd love this / Love is just for my pain, pain is how to gain..."
