Ensuring
the Future of Peace in Taiwan Through International Recognition of the
Enduring Democratic Ideals in the Taiwan Constitution And By International
Scrutiny of Relations Between the People's Republic of China and Taiwan.
Mission Statement for American Institute for Taiwan-China Strategy
1. To promote peaceful relations between Taiwan
and the People's Republic of China.
2. To promote international recognition of
the right of Taiwan to self-determination.
3. To promote recognition in the
international community of the right of Taiwan to be free from aggression,
including political, economic and military from the People's Republic of
China.
4. To promote the development of
democratic principles in the People's Republic of China.
5. To publicize in news outlets
throughout the world in English and in native languages the plight of
the Taiwanese people living under the threat of aggression by the
People's Republic of China.
6. To promote Taiwan as the key to
unlock democratic principles within the People's Republic of China.
7. To promote careful economic ties
between developed nations and the People's Republic of China,
including making a free Taiwan one of the essential elements in
any recognition of the People's Republic of China's participation
in international trade and economic relations.
8. To continue to develop and
promote democratic principles in Taiwan, including adoption of
an advanced democratic legal system based on common law
principles, and including the right to a jury trial.
9. To keep Taiwan on the top of
the priority list in the United States Congress and the White
House, and in the U.S. Government's foreign policy.
10. To educate the people of
the United States about the kinship between Taiwan and the
U.S., the kinship between the Chinese People and the U.S.
and Taiwan, and about the threat by the Government of the
People's Republic of China under communist rule to freedom
and democracy.
