Training For Sports

"They are spending eight hours a day at a desk, working up that corporate ladder. Then they go out to play some touch football or basketball with their buddies on the weekend, and they feel like they could take on anybody." Or they may be in good shape overall, but haven't worked on the body parts that become particularly vulnerable when playing a given sport.

Use a "wrist extension" splint (available at sporting goods stores) and wear it often, even at night. Or you can opt for an elbow brace, which takes pressure off the tender tendon. After three days of total rest, start rehab: Heat your elbow or wrist area for 10 minutes, then perform stretching and strengthening exercises for your elbow, wrist and shoulders.

Chubby Children

The most common cause of dehydration in teens is gastronomical illness, sometimes called the stomach flu. When you are flattened by the stomach flu, you may lose fluid through vomit and diarrhea. (Gastrointestinal illness is a major cause of dehydration, but anything, food poisoning or an alcohol overload, for example that makes you throw up several times in a short period of time can dehydrate you.) And if you're spending that much time getting acquainted with the toilet, you probably will not feel like eating or drinking anything.

Testosterone and other hormones are governed by a feedback system in the body that stimulates the production of a specific hormone when levels fall too low.

Jogging

Say, you are hiking long distances, running or playing tennis with a tight Achilles tendon and tight calf muscles. Or your shoes may not be supportive enough. What is going on is the plantar fascia - a thick, leathery tissue that connects your heel to the ball of your foot and helps maintain your arch - is inflamed or torn.
