Stop the offending activity immediately and rub an ice cube across the affected area for five minutes four times on the first day. Use a "wrist extension" splint (available at sporting goods stores) and wear it often, even at night. Or you can opt for an elbow brace, which takes pressure off the tender tendon.

Small decreases don't cause problems, and in most cases, they go completely unnoticed. There are three levels of dehydration: mild (where you can lose 3% to 5% of your body weight), moderate (6% to 9%), and severe (10% or more). The most common cause of dehydration in teens is gastronomical illness, sometimes called the stomach flu.

Basketball Fitness

Warm up before every workout. Don't even think about picking up a ball, a bat or even a golf club before spending at least 15 minutes doing light cardiovascular exercise, such as easy jogging or brisk walking.

Golf Fitness

You are tired, thirsty, and sweaty. As practice wraps up, you have just enough time to duck into the rest room, change your shirt, and slather on a fresh layer of deodorant before heading off to meet your friends for a 4:00 PM movie. So what is wrong with this picture? You did not take the time to rehydrate. After all that exercise, your body has lost some fluid and you might be a little dehydrated.

Teen Weight Training

Electronic toys have replaced balls and jump ropes. When we hear discussions involving our children we often are hearing words like Obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure and Diabetes. Focus on warming up large muscle groups (i.e. quadriceps, calves, chest, etc...) In an aerobic class, participants march in place, grapevine, do knee lifts etc...

Soccer Fitness

Proteins come in meats, fish, poultry, eggs, beans, nuts, dairy products and other foods, and should provide approximately 12 to15 percent of daily calories. Proteins give your body power to build new tissues and fluids, among other functions.

Saturated Fats

The amount of protein an athlete needs depends in part upon level of fitness; exercise type, intensity and duration; total calories; and carbohydrate intake.

Sports Shoes

The general format of an interval workout is determined by the exercise-to-rest ratios or work-to-recovery ratios. Because the high-intensity (work) portions of the intervals are so intense, they can be performed for only a short period and need to be followed by a lower-intensity (recovery) phase before the next high-intensity phase begins. Today's activity levels and the lifestyles of today's youth have surely undergone a big change.

Baseball Fitness

ITB (illiotibial) tendinitisymptoms: With every running step or bicycle pedal stroke, you feel pain on the outer side of your knee or hip (but there's no swelling). You might also hear a popping sound. Your bike seat is too low. Or your illiotibial band (a thick, fiat, leathery tissue that travels from the hip to the outside of the knee) is too tight to endure running on uneven surfaces, hills or severely inclined treadmills. What's going on is the your illiotibial band is irritated.

You are tired, thirsty, and sweaty. As practice wraps up, you have just enough time to duck into the rest room, change your shirt, and slather on a fresh layer of deodorant before heading off to meet your friends for a 4:00 PM movie.
